KaWe cap pessary
Cap pessary made from celluloid, size 5; in its original, rectangular packaging, including usage instructions.
Old model of a cervical cap, which would be placed onto the cervix by the doctor, or, if necessary, by the woman herself, along with a spermicidal cream. Cervical caps can be put in place after menstruation has subsided and can stay until the next bleeding. What is important is that the cervical cap be fitted precisely to the size of the cervix. The cervix is smaller in women who have not yet given birth.
Cervical caps used to be manufactured from various materials, the present example is made from transparent celluloid. Newer models can more easily be inserted and removed by women themselves.
